“Slingin' Monkey Productions" features pranks, sketches, and comedy with a "politically incorrect" slant
KANSAS CITY, MO.- Nominated “Funniest Comedian” for Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and 1st place winner of The Hollywood Improv’s “Funniest Comic in LA”, Comedian Michael Joiner has been making both Comedy Club and church audiences laugh for more than two decades.
Joiner is now taking his comedy to YouTube where he won't be limited to just stand-up, and where he hopes his "cutting edge (but clean) style" finds an even bigger audience.
"As a comedian who has to please both comedy club clientele as well as tamer audiences, I've always taken my comedy a bit more to the edge, which is where even clean comedy fans like to go. It’s the stuff Christians talk about when we're not in a church setting." says Joiner.
Indeed, one look at Joiner's YouTube channel will attest this "aint your grammas" type of entertainment. Skits that mock psychics who appear on talk shows, and rednecks on Jerry Springer, plus a few pranks (we won't give it away) that has even tourists on Hollywood Blvd. blushing, along with a hilarious rant about his neighbor, makes Michael Joiner's style of comedy somewhat "outside the box" of what some imagine Christian comedy to be, yet at the same time it manages to stay far away from the often overtly sexual and crude humor that so many produce.
"With family-friendly content become some of the most popular on YouTube, I think my channel has a good chance of being a success." Joiner says.
Joiner, who's film acting career has also received rave reviews among critics including "The Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety", hopes to round-up plenty of fans in time for the production of his first full length feature film comedy (he's produced two other dramas) that he has written. Keeping within the scope of his "edgy" style, the film is a "first of its kind" parody of faith-based films entitled "Christian Movie." Joiner will also act (in various roles) and direct.
"This movie will create a buzz, guaranteed.", says Joiner. "It's already got people talking about the "pitch trailer."
