Verizon Exclusive Palm Phone is official and will cost you a hefty $349!

Remember Palm? The company that revolutionized gesture based multi-tasking back in the day. Well, they are back and this time they are targeting a completely different set of customers with their latest offering in the smartphone space.

Coming this November is the Palm Phone as they call it, which by the way is Verizon Exclusive and is aiming to create and capture an altogether new product category in what is called as the ‘Smartphone Companion’.

Before discussing about what this device can and can’t do let’s take a dive into the specification configuration.

The Palm phone feels compact in the hand with a total weight of 2.2 ounce. It has a 3.3 inch display crammed into a footprint roughly of the size of credit card.

The phone is supposed be a companion of your regular smartphone. The fact they are not trying to get into mainstream competition of replacing your primary phone in your pocket is kind of intelligent. It’s positioned as more of a backup device to your primary and popular use case scenarios include taking the phone to the gym, seminars etc and honestly that kind of makes little sense.

Inside the phone is powered by a snapdragon 435 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and has 32GB of onboard storage. The phone runs on a custom version of Android 8.1 Oreo and is well optimized to run any android app on a display of this size. The phone comes equipped with a 12MP primary rear camera and is powered by an all day ‘800mAh battery.

Notable features of the phone include presence of face unlock, IP68 water resistance and a ‘Life Mode’ which enables battery saver phone everytime the screen is turned off.

The phone will be sold exclusively through verizon with a Connected Device plan.Even the unlocked version of the device will not hit the markets. The Connected device plan is $10/month and is the same plan that is applicable to wearables like Apple watch and will use use Verizon’s “NumberShare” program to let users mirror their phone number onto the device. Using Verizon’s Message+ app, users will also be able to mirror SMS messages from Android or iPhone.

Verizon is charging a hefty $349 as a one time payment or $15/month which again is obnoxiously high.
