An Emirati Employs WhatsApp to Reinforce Social Relations!

The prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said: “Whoever leads to good is like the one who does it."

Some people see that the social media no longer play their main role after they have turned into social separation  media as they have separated the neighbors locally. However, Mr.Qasim

Ahmed Al Murshidi, an Emirati citizen, could restore their role; he employed them so as to serve people and strengthen their social relations.

Inspired by his thoughts, Mr. Al Murshidi has launched the first free  digital service on WhatsApp, dedicated to announcing the death and joy cases of Emirati families, which made his mobile number mainly used by a huge group of Emirati people. In this regard, Mr. Al Murshidi explained that he tried to employ technology to support communication in the community, pointing out  that  his  idea  was  crystallized  by  sending  information  to  his  followers  whose  number  exceeds  10,000, through WhatsApp. The information includes details  about the deceased's name, his/her family, the consolation locations for men and women, and the timing of funeral prayer and burial. However, what surprised Mr. Al Murshidi was the amazing interaction among his followers who have been keen to communicate with him, to provide support in all its forms to the relatives of the deceased, which invited him to be as a full timer in this work in  which  he has been working for four years so far. Mr. Al Murshidi hopes to get an official approval by the concerned authorities to issue a press and radio report to announce the names of the deceased in the country on a daily basis so as to familiarize people with it, like the experience of a number of countries.

Mr. Al Murshidi’s services are not limited to the digital declaration of death cases; he also attemptsto assist the deceased's family when they complete the death, burial and other official certificates. He is always there to receive phone calls from them asking for support incompleting the hospital procedures. Moreover, he often tries to provide psychological support to the deceased's family directly, helping them to receive mourners and offering hospitality at the condolence houses. In addition, he often plays the role of a journalist who covers the event, where he videos the condolence and writes the news about it  when the deceased’s family fail to communicate quickly with the media when a well-known figure arrives.

Mr. Al Murshidi saw that it was significant to expand his field of service to include the announcement of joy cases, which found great resonance, and proved the solidarity of Emiratis in weal and woe.

With regards to the paradoxes he is facing, Mr. Al Murshidi referred to the travel of an Emirati family to visit their sick grandmother in the USA. Before the flight, the husband had received a message from him, stating the death of the patient and all the details of the condolence.

The Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs in Sharjah has recently honored Mr.Murshidi for his contributions to the recruitment of social media. And what is worth to mention is that Mr.Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, and Director General of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, has stressed the importance of employing the social media in enhancing social relations and strengthening family cohesion, praising the role of Mr. Al Murshidi in this regard.

Last but not least: Mr. Al  Murshidi, through his unique idea, has succeeded in transforming the Emirati community into a family that shares weal and woe.
