Pirated editions of H.M. Ortiz “DARK POETRY” book appearing online

(Pirated PDF photocopy of The Dark Poetry Book)

Associated Press: Manhattan, NEW YORK - July 27, 2021 —  “The Dark Poetry book” by Author, H.M. Ortiz officially became available to buy in April 2021 after surviving a security review and challenges from far left-wing opposition due to its sensitive content that condones divorce, abortion, and suicide. The book is available for purchase from Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Amazon Books, IndieBound, Books-A-Million, and many local booksellers, however, over the weekend, it was available in ways even he as his publisher is hoping to prevent.

A PDF of “The Dark Poetry Book” by H.M. Ortiz has turned up on the internet, offering a free, pirated edition of the former Editor in Chief of 128AndUp Magazine known by his DJ stage name “Nikolai Marti” (H.M. Ortiz), who has alleged that the book has artwork material that reflects daily life’s suicide, depression and possible forms of self-harm and violence. To the loving-poetry reader, this is merely art. To the clinical psychologists, this is a therapedic form of expressing grief. To the non-so artsy type or clinically knowledgeable, this can easily be misinterpreted.

“I just can’t believe that someone took the time and effort to photocopy, properly file, zip, and upload a whole book to a piracy network as a free download. I avoided the kindle and nook versions of the book. I want people to experience holding my artwork and poems in their hands, something about a brand new book smell, I don’t know, I’d like to keep the art of reading physical books alive.” Said the 33-year old author at an interview earlier in the morning for XM Radio.

Piracy is heavily prosecuted as last year alone, the U.S. federal, state, and local governments lost a minimum of $422 million in tax revenues due to piracy. $291 million of that $422 million represents lost personal income taxes while $131 million is lost corporate income and production taxes.

This particular instance has caused a delay of three weeks to the release of H.M. Ortiz’s 4th book “Break Up with the Break Up” which was supposed to become available for purchase on July 30th of this year. The pre-orders will be shipped as promised by Ortiz’s publisher, Harper & Mac Publishers (HMP) and distributed by Ingram Content Group (ICG) but we will not be able to place our own orders or go to the book store and grab a copy until mid to late August 2021.

H.M. Ortiz is a strong advocate of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) as he has openly said in interviews that he has survived a suicide attempt. He’s also the CEO of a PR Firm based in Los Angeles, California although his current residence is in Nashville, TN. H.M. Ortiz has been featured in FOX 43 Knoxville, NBC’s Coast TV, CBS’s WBOC, FOX 40 in New York, 2News in Reno, The Morning Herald, The Daily Dispatcher, Buzz Reporter, Enter Hollywood, Frontal Report and LA Weekly.
